Okay. So. I got quite a bit to talk about today. Well, at least exciting stuff. I think it's exciting...
I guess it's really not a whole lot.
Sorry! Got off topic.
So I'm sitting at my computer last night (wasting time, because what else do I do?) when my phone starts a-buzzin'. I don't recognize the number at all, but what the hell. I pick it up anyway.
It was The Art Institute of Seattle.
Holy shit, right?
I end up talking to the representative (he was really nice) and he asked if I wanted to schedule a phone interview, because that's part of their application process. Of course I say yes and he's all like 'Well, how's Monday? At say, 5 your time?' That works for me. We say our goodbyes and I hang up.
Then it hits me.
I have a phone interview.
With a college I kinda really wanna go to.
On Monday.
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!?!?!?
That was my reaction all last night and a little bit into today when I was telling my art teachers about it. Donald (my amazing art teacher that's like a farther to me) helped me pick out the best of my best work that I have on DeviantArt and suggested that I make a new account. When the interview will be going on, I have to be on the computer too so that way I can send them work and we can look at web pages about the school and stuff.
I dunno what screen name to give the new account though.
CScullen, maybe?
Today was lots of fun too, I found out that I love working with chalk pastels. My jeans are proof of that (the one leg is kinda really covered in streaks of the stuff from my hands).
I also realized that I have a shit ton of art to do during second semester and fuck if I'll be able to get it all done in time.
I haven't felt very motivated as of late, so I haven't really been doing anything that's good for me school-wise. This could be because it's the end of the semester and teachers are done teaching and just trying to make you remember all the stuff they shoved in our heads. Or it could be a combination of that with my missing almost a week, the weirdness of exams, and still feeling 'blarg, dun wanna move' from winter break.
Gotta get out of it!
That's one of the reasons I rearranged my room.
But it's not done.
Which is bad.
Cuz I have people coming over tonight for a kinda-but-not-really party.
You see, we weren't supposed to be having school tomorrow. But then it snowed/iced and school got canceled. That caused all of the exams to be pushed back a day. So instead of taking my English exam today, I had to take my Spanish exam (which wasn't too bad, but still).
Anyway, I still haven't finished cleaning my room, which will make it very hard to party and dance and frolic and such.
Suppose I should get on that, huh?
Before I go! Could you fair readers do me an awesome? (that means favor, by the way).
Well, actually two.
1-Let me know what you think my DeviantArt screen name should be when I'm talking with the college
2-Give me feedback on my photos (the link will take you too them).
I'll put up P365 pictures tomorrow!
1- As far as a Official(kinda-ish) portfolio goes to use your first initial and last name is a very smart move. My college does the emails like that so all you need to know to email or look up your professor is to know their last name and first initial, So CScullen would be your safest bet.
ReplyDelete2- top 8 of the photos (I guess i am weird to only like a from you da but some of the others I have seen else where have some I like as well)
Building 1
Abstract 3
Abstract 1
Shiny Tower
Crazy looking spider
Ghostly stage
Drip, Drip
Waterfall 1
Hah, panicking a little bit, are we?
ReplyDeleteAs far as the name, I'd say keep it simple and keep it classy - CScullen works, though maybe people are going to recommend something else that works as well.
As far as the photos... I'm no expert on photography, so you might want other people to say what to include, but I'd say to include:
Drip, Drip - Because of the color and level of detail
Reflections (Maybe?)
Looking Up (Maybe?)
Crazy Looking Spider - because of the detail that you can see in the spider itself
Waterfall 1 - because waterfalls are awesome, and anyone who says otherwise should be drawn and quartered
Abstract 1
Pretty Bush
Got anything you haven't posted up there yet?
@Art- A few, yes. I still have to sort through them and decide which ones I think are awesome. I should be putting those up on my DA in before the weekend's out.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks both for your advice!
